Give It Away

Written by Daniel Barre.

Giving is a wonderful gift
Try it and see if you like it
At first it feels strange
As it doesn’t go with the flow of what we know
But then as you do it more
You get better at it
After awhile it starts to feel
Really good

When you are deeply troubled
Give your grief and worry away
When you are really happy
Give your love and joy away
Give away the material and the un-seeable
Until they are gone
If they come back
Give them away again
With no reservations

Give your stories away
The ones you hold so dear
Give them as gifts
Not for barter
Just as gifts
After all they are just stories
More stories will come
Give those away too

Give generously
To you
Giving is free
Give generously
To me
Giving is fearless

Whatever you have to give
Give without expectation
See yourself as a gift to give
Give yourself as a gift

You may want to get over something
Why get over something
When you can just give it away?
It’s much less work just to give it away
Then no one will stumble and fall over it again later on

Giving things away means that you’re done with them
In that moment you are done
There’s nothing more to do
Except to keep giving
Giving the gift

The gift
Is to see that you are holding on to something
Holding onto what?
An illusion?
A delusion?
See yourself grasping illusions?
See your delusions as gifts
Then give them away
If you get confused about giving them away
Then give the confusion about giving them away
As a gift

Giving is a gift
The gift is giving without trying to get something in return
The gift of the gift
Is love
